久しぶりに京都府立植物園へ出かけました。新型コロナウィルス感染症拡大による「まん延防止重点措置」適用の１日前です。昨年は休園に次ぐ休園で年間パスポートも延長また延長で、それを良いことにあまり足繁くは通わなかったのですが、気づいたら有効期限は2月1日。元を取っていないと思うので、今月中にあと1回は来なくては．．．などせこいことを考えてしまいました。
今日のお目当ては、冬芽。正門から入って、色々と観察。まだ寒の内ということで、植物の芽はそれほど動いていないようですが、それでもロウバイは見頃を過ぎ、シナマンサクは花びらをほころばせ始めています。春分が過ぎると動きがせわしくなるでしょうね。午後2時に入って4時過ぎに出るというせわしない観察でした。ジョウビタキが「もっとゆっくりしたら？」と問いかけているようです。
I visited the Kyoto Botanical Garden today. It was one day before the application of the "Priority Measures to Prevent the Spread of the New Coronavirus". Last year, the garden was closed for many days, and the annual passport was extended again and again, so I thought I could go there anytime and didn't visit as often as I should have. I didn't notice that expiration is so close, so I'll have to come back at least once more this month . . . to get my money's worth.
Today, I wanted to see the winter buds. I entered from the main gate and observed as many trees as I could. Since it is the midst of the winter, the buds didn't seem to be changing much, but the Roubai was past its prime and the witch hazel was beginning to show its petals. But the roses are past their prime and the Chinese witchhazel is beginning to show its petals. I went in at 2:00 p.m. and left a little after 4:00 p.m. It was a very hectic observation. The Daurian redstart seemed to be asking me, "Why don't you slow down?
