シャクチリソバ

シャクチリソバが元気です。年々大きく生息範囲を広げてきて、秋遅くまで河川敷の草むらに白い群落を作っています。他の植物の成長を抑えるアレロパシーを持っていて、一箇所に根付くと、年ごとに群落が大きくなります。しかし、一つ一つの花序を眺めると清楚な花の集まりで、雑草としておくにはもったいない美しさを持っています。写真の花をよく見ると、ハナグモの一種とグンバイの一種が潜んでいるのがわかります。

Shakuchirisoba (Polygonum cymosum) is thriving on the riverbank. It has been expanding its habitat year by year, forming white colonies in the grass along the riverbank until late autumn. It has allelopathic properties that suppress the growth of other plants, and when it takes root in one place, the colony grows larger year by year. It is an invasive species. However, if you look at the individual inflorescences, you will notice a beautiful collection of neat flowers that are too beautiful to be left as weeds.The photo  below show a spider and a gumbai-mushi, a kind of tingidae lurking on them.

シャクチリソバの花

桂川の河川敷で、ここ3，4年の間に急激に生息域を広げてきた植物の1つにシャクチリソバ(Polygonum cymosum)があります。シャクチリソバはユーラシア大陸に広く分布するタデ科の植物で、その名の通り、花も実も食用にされるソバによく似ていますが、えぐみが強くて食用にはなりません。解熱などの薬効があるということで、日本には明治時代に薬用植物として持ち込まれ、逸出して繁殖し、帰化植物として繁茂しています。アレロパシーにより他種の植物を駆逐するため、この季節になると、河川敷のあちこちにシャクチリソバの白い花の群落を見ます。ここでは、セスジハリバエの一種（？）が吸蜜に訪れています。

One of the plants that has been rapidly expanding its habitat along the banks of the Katsura River over the past three or four years is Shakuchirisoba (Polygonum cymosum). Shakuchirisoba is a member of Soba, the buckwheat family that is widely distributed in Eurasia. As its name suggests, its flowers and fruits are similar to those of buckwheat, which is used for food, but it has a strong acrid taste and is not fit for food. It was brought to Japan in the Meiji era (1868-1912) as a medicinal plant for its antipyretic and other medicinal properties, and then it has proliferated as a naturalized plant. Because of its allelopathic effect on other species of plants, there are colonies of white flowers here and there along riverbeds during autumn.

シャクチリソバ

 シャクチリソバの咲く季節になりました。明治時代に小石川植物園に導入されたインドから中国原産のタデ科の植物で、そこから逸出して、現在は全国の河川敷などに広がっています。食用にはなりませんが、毛細血管を丈夫にするというルチンを多く含むとして、薬用植物として利用されてきました。

シャクチリには赤地利を当てますが、学名であるFagopyrum cymosumからしても、この植物が赤色と関係することを古くから認めてきているようです。

この時期堤防など小高い場所から河川敷を眺めると、白い花の帯が見えます。

花の少なくなる季節ですので、目立ちます。

宿根生の多年草ですので、初夏の頃から葉を茂らせますが、花が咲くのは10月です。若い葉や茎も食用になるとか。

花は白い花びらに雄しべの葯が赤く、大変美しいです。

観察記録：シャクチリソバ

Shakuchirisoba, or Polygonum cymosum, belongs to the family of Polygonaceae. It's a kind of buckwheat, genetically close to Tartary buckwheat, or Fagopyrum tataricum. It's a perennial plant and produces allelochemicals to ward off other plants. It was introduced into Japan as a medicinal herb during the Meiji era. For these few years, this plant has been spreading its habitat along the riverbank of the Katsura. Young leaves are edible, flowers are pretty, but its negative allelopathy effect on the existing plants and shrubs is a matter of concern.

シャクチリソバの咲く季節になりました。明治年間に薬用植物として移入されたものが逸出して野生化したものです。桂川でもここ数年秋になると河川敷の一部を白く染めて花が咲くようになりました。他の植物の成長を阻害する物質（アレロケミカル）を出す、アレロパシーの植物として知られます。若葉は食用になり、花は美しいのですが、毎年生息域を拡大しているのが気になっています。

昨日アップロードした写真のイチモンジセセリが吸蜜しているのが、シャクチリソバです。

ハナアブも吸蜜しています。

タデの仲間のうちでもとても美しい花だと思います。

ソバといっても、実を挽いて食べることはできませんが、解熱や下痢に効果があるほか、肝機能の回復にも薬効があるとのことです。
