オドリコソウの開花が始まりました。オドリコソウはシソ科オドリコソウ属の草本で、なるほどシソ科を思わせるのはその花です。基本的な形はシソやエゴマ、サルビアなどと同じです。ただし、オドリコソウの場合は花が輪生状態になって、数段茎の葉腋につけるところが、穂状の花序を出すシソなどと異なります。
White nettles are blooming now. They belong to the Lamiaceae family and, therefore, looks like shiso and salvia. The Japanese name Odorikosou, literally, "Dancer glass" derives from the shape of the flower that resembles dancing girls with umbrella-shaped straw headpieces over their head.
