Matsukasasusuki (Scirpus mitsukurianus Makino), another "paddy field weed," is now declining in numbers and is listed as an endangered species in the Kyoto Red Data Book 2015. Its name derives from matsukasa, or pine cone like inflorescence, and susuki, or silver grass (Miscanthus sinensis) with its tall, thin leaves. It thrives in the places with a lot of water all year round, such as wet rice paddies.
マツカサススキ、これもまた「水田雑草」の一つですが、現在数を減らして、『京都府レッドデータブック2015』では絶滅危惧種に指定されています。名前の由来は背丈が高く細い葉を持つところがススキに似て、かつ種子の形が松かさに似ていることから来ています。
昨年枚方市の山田池には大きな群生がありました。田んぼのような、年中水気の多い場所を好むようです。
