今日は部分月食と言うことで、夕刻7時頃に観察してみました。実際には、ほぼ皆既月食で、なかなかよい天体ショーでした。2枚の写真のうち、赤く見えるのは、地球の陰に赤い光が回り込んで月を照らしたもので、肉眼で見た感じに近いです。同じ写真をコントラストと明るさを低くして処理したのがもう一枚の写真。これらは同じ写真です。ほぼ1000ミリ相当の望遠レンズで撮影しましたが、月がみるみるフレームアウトするのには、改めて驚きました。地球の自転を体感するひとときでした。
Today we had a partial lunar eclipse, so I tried to observe it around 7:00 p.m. Actually, it was almost a total lunar eclipse, and quite a good celestial show. Of the two photos, the one that looks red is the result of red light coming around the shadow of the earth and illuminating the moon, which is close to what we see with our naked eyes. The other photo is processed with lower contrast and brightness. These are the same photos. I took these pictures with a telephoto lens equivalent to 1000 mm, and I was again amazed at how the moon was quickly framed out. I felt as if I was physically experiencing the earth's rotation.
