Shakuchirisoba (Polygonum cymosum) is thriving on the riverbank. It has been expanding its habitat year by year, forming white colonies in the grass along the riverbank until late autumn. It has allelopathic properties that suppress the growth of other plants, and when it takes root in one place, the colony grows larger year by year. It is an invasive species. However, if you look at the individual inflorescences, you will notice a beautiful collection of neat flowers that are too beautiful to be left as weeds. The photo below show a spider and a gumbai-mushi, a kind of tingidae lurking on them.
