メジロと柿の実

メジロたちが熟れた柿の実を食べています。群れで訪れ熟した柿の実をついばみますが、どんな大きな実でも「分けてあげる」様子はおよそなく、必ず「独り占め」です。この写真でも1人で一個。一般に野鳥の場合、生殖と子育てに関わる場合を除いては、利他行為は見られないように思います。これも自然界を生き抜くための方策でしょうか。

The white-eyes are eating ripe persimmon fruit. They come in flocks and peck at the ripe fruit, but no matter how big the fruit is, they never seem to share it. Even in this photo, each bird is tackling with its own huge fruit. In general, wild birds do not seem to engage in altruistic behavior, except when it comes to reproduction and chick rearing. Is this another way of surviving in the natural world?
