アトリの訪問：A visit of bramblings (Fringilla montifringilla)

公園にアトリの群れが訪れる季節になりました。昨年滋賀県では数万羽の群れがみられたそうですが、京都市内では数十羽がせいぜいです。時には群れから離れて一羽で見ることもあります。この日は6羽ほどの群れでした。カエデの種子を食べていたようです。じっと観察していると、コゲラも近くに来てくれました。

It is now the season for flocks of bramblings to visit the park. Last year, tens of thousands of bramblings were sighted in Shiga Prefecture, but in Kyoto City area, only a few dozen are seen at most. Sometimes I see them alone, separated from the flock. On this day, there were about six in the flock. They were feeding on seeds of Japanese maple trees. When I quietly observed them, a Japanese pigmy wood pecker came to the nearby tree.
