11月2日にポストしたクロマダラソテツシジミですが、今日は雄と雌の双方がベランダのペンタスを訪問してくれました。メスの方は右の下翅が大きく痛んでいますが、左下翅の尾状突起は残っていて、羽の模様と共にこれがクロマダラソテツシジミであることは間違いないです。時折二匹で飛び回り、徐々に近づいたりしています。南方系のチョウゆえ、成虫では京都の冬は越せないでしょう。すべて死滅するのか、幼虫或いはサナギの形で生き延びるのか、気になるところです。
I posted a blog about a visit of Kuromadarasotetsushijimi, a cycad blue (Luthrodes pandava) on November 2nd, and today, both a male and a female visited us on the pentas flowers. The female's right underwing is severely damaged, but the caudal process on the left underwing is still intact, and along with the pattern on her wings, I'm pretty sure it's a female cycad blue. The two butterflies occasionally fly around together and gradually approach each other. Since it is a southern butterfly, the adults will not survive the winter in Kyoto. I wonder if they will all die, or if they will somehow survive through the winter as larvae or pupae.
