The number of monkeys appearing in Arashiyama is unusually high this year. I wonder if it is because there are not enough tourists and not enough feeding at the monkey reservation, Iwatayama. Recently, a group of about 10 monkeys were eating mukunoki berries along the banks of the Oigawa River, and today, about 20 monkeys appeared at Kameyama They were eating acorns. They didn't seem to pay any attention to us, but as they are wild monkeys with extremely high agility, we felt threatened when they came close to us. This one in the pictures below was a loner, away from other monkeys. She (so it seemed) was rather good-looking.
