ベニマシコ：Long-tailed rosefinch (Uragus sibiricus)

ベニマシコが昨季と同じ場所に渡ってきてくれています。同じ場所に同じ野鳥が戻ってくるのは、野鳥をめぐる環境が保たれている証左ですので、ほっとします。この日食べていたのはイノコズチとカラムシの実。イノコズチはさておき、カラムシの実はどれほどの実体を持つのでしょうか。ベニマシコが好きなセイタカアワダチソウも、実体のない霞のような実です。他の鳥の食べない食物を好むことによって、同じ場所での餌の奪い合いを防ぎ、共存が成り立っているのかもしれません。

The Long-tailed rosefinch spending the winter in the same place as last season. It is a relief to see the same wild birds returning to the same place, because it is a sign that the environment for wild birds is being maintained. On this day, Inokozuchi, ox knee (Achyranthes bidentata) and a Karamushi, or Ramie (Boehmeria nivea var. nipononivea) seeds. I wondered how much substance the karamushi seeds had. They also favor Seitakaawadachisou, or Canadian goldenrod (Solidago canadensis), whose seeds are so small that they have almost no substance. By preferring foods that other birds do not prefer, they may be able to prevent competition in the same place and thus are able to coexist.
