ミサゴと落ち鮎

今年の桂川でのアユの遡上は、近年にない数だったようで、落ち鮎も数が多く、未だに連日釣り人が川に入っています。落ち鮎を好むのは人間ばかりではないようで、ミサゴも連日桂川の上空を飛び、獲物を狙っています。今日は桂大橋の下流での狩りを確認しました。

The number of ayu (sweetfish) coming up the Katsura River this year was unprecedented in recent years, and the number of ayu fish that goes down the river for spawning is so large that anglers are still coming into the river every day. It seems that ospreys are also fond of the fish and they are flying over the Katsura River every day, looking for their prey. Today, I saw them hunting downstream of the Katsura Bridge.
