チョウゲンボウ、カラス、トビ

夕闇が迫る河川敷でチョウゲンボウ、カラス、トビがじゃれ合うように飛び交っているのを目撃しました。日頃はチョウゲンボウがカラスに追われているのを見るのですが、この日は3種の鳥が旋回し、突っかかり、お互いの飛翔能力を試すように、戯れるように飛び交っていました。このようにして、遊びを通じて相手の力量を測っているのかも知れません。

I saw a kestrel, crows, and a kite flying together as if they were jostling each other over the riverbed in the evening darkness. Normally, I would see a kestrel being chased by crows, but on this day, the three species of birds were circling, pecking at each other, and flying playfully as if testing each other's flying ability and maneuverbility. In this way, they may be gauging the competence of the other through play.
