エゴノキの冬芽：Egonoki, or the Japanese snowbell (Styrax japonicus)

2021年最後のエントリーです。エゴノキを観察しました。エゴノキ科の冬芽らしく、温かい外皮に包まれて、主芽と副芽が仲良く並んでいます。幼い頃、この木の実は洗濯に使うことができるので、石けんの木だよ、と母から聞かされた木です。その場所もよく覚えています。

This is my last entry for 2021. I observed the winter buds of Egonoki. The main buds and secondary buds are lined up close together, wrapped in a warm outer skin, typical of the winter buds of the Styracaceae family. When I was a child, my mother told me, on our way to the field, that this tree was a "soap tree" because its fruits could be used for washing clothes. I remember the place well.
