温暖化に加えて猪や鹿などが人家に近い場所に出没するようになり、マダニの被害が増えています。また、これにより媒介される病気への関心と懸念が高まってきています。マダニは冬でも完全に活動を止めるわけではないということを人から聞きました。実際に京都の冬の谷筋で、足元に生えているアラカシの葉裏に、マダニが大きな前脚を広げているのを見て、ゾッとしました。
Because of global warming, disease-spreading insects survive through winter. In addition to this, wild animals, such as boars and deer are now appearing closer to people's homes. As a result, the number of tick bites report is increasing. There is also a growing concern and interest in diseases transmitted by ticks. Ticks do not completely stop their activities even in winter they move around. In fact, I was horrified to find a tick spreading its large paws on the underside of the leaves of an oak tree in a valley in winter in Kyoto!
