メジロとビワコカタカイガラモドキ：Mejiro, warbling white-eye (Zosterops japonicus) feeding at riverbank

先般スズメとベニマシコがビワコカタカイガラモドキを食べている様子を紹介しましたが、今日はエナガの群れに交じってメジロがこれを食べに来ていました。長い嘴を使って鞘と茎の間を広げ、嘴を差し込んでカイガラモドキを食べているようです。動画も付けておきました。

I have posted a sparrow and a Siberian long-tailed rosefinch feeding on the Biwakokatakaigaramodoki (Nipponaclerda biwakoensis). Today several warbling white eyes, or mejiro, in Japanese, were among the long-tailed tit (Aegithalos caudatus) in the reedy field. They use their long sharp beaks to pry-open the sheath and pick up the hiding insects. Enjoy the moving picture.
