2月末に数日暖かい日が続いて、河川敷のヤナギの木の梢が煙るように見えてきました。これはつぼみが緩み始めた印です。これを待っていたかのように、ベニマシコがヤナギの木の芽を食べ始めました。写真は桂離宮にちかい、離宮前公園での様子です。鮮やかな赤い色に染まったオス二羽が、盛んにヤナギの芽を食べていました。
At the end of February, we enjoyed a few warm days and the treetops of the willow trees along the river bank are beginning to look smoky. This is a sign that the buds are beginning to loosen. As if it had been waiting for this, benimashiko, Siberian long-tailed rosefinch, began to nibble the buds of the willow trees. This photo was taken at Rikyumae Park, near Katsura Rikyu. Two male birds, both warm pink in color, were actively eating willow buds.
