河川敷にて（テリハノイバラ）

日曜日に訪れた河川敷に再度出かけました。お目当てはテリハノイバラの標本採集。この付近ではここにしか生息していません。匍匐性のノイバラで、花は通常のノイバラよりも大きく、見栄えがします。ただし、棘が細く鋭い。加えて今年はクズなどの雑草に覆われて、近づくこともなかなかでした。

I returned to the riverbank I had visited on Sunday. My goal was to collect specimens of the memorial rose (Rosa luciae Rochebr. et Franch. ex Crep.). This is the only place in the area where it grows. It's a creeping variety of rose, and its flowers are larger and more striking than those of the common wild rose (multiflora rose, (Rosa multifora Thunb.). However, its thorns are thin and sharp. On top of that, this year it was completely overgrown with weeds like kudzu, making it quite difficult to get close.

太い茎から出た枝には多数の花が咲いています。ほのかにバラの香りがしました。

Numerous flowers were blooming on the branches sprouting from the thick stems. There was a faint scent of roses.

おまけで昆虫観察。セイタカアワダチソウに吸汁するセイタカアワダチソウヒゲナガアブラムシ。集合体に弱い方は悶絶するかも。1991年に日本に帰化したそうです。

On my way back, I observed some insects. Goldenrod aphids feeding on tall goldenrod. Those who are squeamish about clusters of insects might find this unbearable. Apparently, they were first found in Japan in 1991.

セイタカアワダチソウの葉裏には、アワダチソウグンバイ。こちらは1999年に年に日本に帰化したそうです。

On the underside of the tall goldenrod leaves, I found several chrysanthemum lac bug (Corythucha marmorata). These were naturalized in Japan in 1999.
