I returned to the riverbank I had visited on Sunday. My goal was to collect specimens of the memorial rose (Rosa luciae Rochebr. et Franch. ex Crep.). This is the only place in the area where it grows. It's a creeping variety of rose, and its flowers are larger and more striking than those of the common wild rose (multiflora rose, (Rosa multifora Thunb.). However, its thorns are thin and sharp. On top of that, this year it was completely overgrown with weeds like kudzu, making it quite difficult to get close.
太い茎から出た枝には多数の花が咲いています。ほのかにバラの香りがしました。
Numerous flowers were blooming on the branches sprouting from the thick stems. There was a faint scent of roses. On my way back, I observed some insects. Goldenrod aphids feeding on tall goldenrod. Those who are squeamish about clusters of insects might find this unbearable. Apparently, they were first found in Japan in 1991.
