昨日メジロガモがいた場所では約10羽のトモエガモも見ることができました。トモエガモは、場所によっては100羽単位で見ることもあり、京都市内でも以前、宝ヶ池で30羽あまりの群れが群舞して見事でした。そのときのカモの飛翔の素晴らしさが記憶に残り、大人しく水に浮かんでいるカモは何か物足りない気持ちがしています。この日はそのほかに、オカヨシガモ、ヨシガモ、ヒドリガモ、コガモ、マガモ、カルガモ、カンムリカイツブリ、階物理などを認めました。一羽どうもなじまないカモがいたのですが、帰宅して調べると、ヨシガモのエクリプスであることがわかりました。
In the same spot where a common white eye was yesterday, I also saw about 10 Baikal teals. In some other places, I've seen as many as a hundred of these ducks, and even in Kyoto City, I once saw a flock of more than 30 or so teals at Takaragaike Pond. The splendor of the ducks' flight at that time lingered in my memory, and I felt somehow unsatisfied to see them floating quietly in the water. Yesterday, I also spotted gadwalls (Anas strepera), falcated teals (Anas falcata), baldpates, (Mareca penelope), green-winged teal (Anas crecca), mallard, spotbill duck (Anas poecilorhyncha), crested grebes (Podiceps cristatus), and grebes (Tachybaptus ruficollis). There was one duck that didn't seem to fit in. When I got home and checked it out, I found out that it was an eclipse falcated teal.
